Many of us are emotional eaters also know as compulsive overeating.
Emotional Eating is also known as compulsive overeating and is characterized by the following:
- Compulsive eating and being critical of your body is a way to cover up uncomfortable feelings.
- Using food for reasons other than hunger and feeling unable to stop the behavior.
- It may involve eating until you are stuffed and uncomfortable or grazing on food throughout the day.
- People eat more than they need because of stress, anxiety, depression or emotional needs.
- It is a way of letting yourself and others know that your needs are not being met.
The bottom line is that Emotional Eating is a message that something else is going on that has nothing to do with physical hunger.
